The Opening Framer punches in doors, windows, and garage doors while automatically handling headers, trimmers, king studs, jamb blocks, and cripple studs.
Adding openings
- Select a wall surface in Framing view.
- Open the Opening Framer panel and choose Window, Door, or Garage Door—or load your own preset if you saved common dimensions.
- Drag handles directly on the wall surface to scale the opening, and use the helper guides with editable measurement labels to set exact heights and distances from corners.
- Click Set and Autostrek generates the entire opening plus framing automatically.
Adjustments
- Drag handles to nudge the opening; numeric inputs update live.
- Use the top reference guide to align every window or door at the exact header and sill height.
- Click an existing opening to reuse its settings instantly before placing the next one.
Understanding automatic framing
- Building codes vary across regions, so you may need to tweak headers or framing dimensions manually when compliance matters.
- King and trimmer studs inherit the wall’s stud spacing and swap to doubles for wider openings.
- Cripples regenerate when you change sill height—no stray lumber objects remain.
