Recommended test
Compare a built-in opening with a named custom preset and confirm the rough opening offset is understood.
- Review the built-in Window, Door, Sliding Patio Door and Garage Door cards.
- Create a custom test preset with a distinctive name, width, height and opening offset.
- Place the custom preset beside a built-in opening on the same wall.
- Measure both rough openings and confirm the offset was applied as expected.
Built-in choices
The current defaults include a 900 × 1200 mm window, a 900 × 2100 mm door, a 2000 × 2100 mm sliding patio door and a 2800 × 2100 mm garage door. They are useful tests, not recommendations for every market.
Choose a balcony door in the visual builder
In Build → Openings, open Door settings with the gear beside Door and select Balcony doors. The gallery contains Single balcony door, Double balcony door and Sliding patio door.
Single balcony door has one uninterrupted glass pane in a slim frame, without glazing bars or a lower panel. Set width and height, handle side and two or three hinges. Handle side is viewed from outside; hinges are on the opposite side. Its starting rough opening is 900 × 2100 mm.
Apply door updates the selected door or the next preview; Cancel leaves it unchanged. Generate the building to see the resulting 3D door. The choice saves with the designer’s drafts and .strek project. This gallery is separate from the standalone Opening Framer’s reusable preset cards.
Double doors with sidelights
Door settings also contains Double entrance with sidelights and Glazed double door with sidelights.
The entrance style has two panelled leaves with grilles in the fixed side windows. The glazed style has glass and grilles in both door leaves and both side windows, suitable for a balcony entrance. Their starting size is 2400 × 2100 mm. Width includes both leaves and the fixed sidelights; the side windows and grilles resize together with the door assembly.
Choose the relevant storey and place the assembly yourself in Openings. Adding a porch, balcony or ground entrance never inserts a door automatically.
Create a project preset
A custom preset can store its label, category, width, height, opening offset and optional price. The offset represents the framing allowance around the nominal product. Use the actual manufacturer’s rough-opening guidance rather than assuming one offset suits every product.
Select a grille for future windows
Use the grille icon beside a window preset to open the pattern gallery. Applied designs appear under Grille for new windows as radio choices. Click a design’s name or radio button to select it, or choose No grille. Each new window receives one pattern. Creating another reusable design does not layer it over the previous design.
Preset design changes affect future windows. To modify an existing window, use its own controls under Placed windows. Click the window’s name to reuse its dimensions and grille for the next placement; click the pattern name or Edit to change the placed window itself. The sidebar confirms copied settings, and selecting a preset returns to that preset’s size and selected design.
Reusable preset designs last for the editing session. Grilles already applied to windows are saved with the .strek project. Follow the window grilles guide for the full workflow.
Pick the intended host
Preset cards can be used with supported main walls and supported dormer or extension walls. Confirm the host type and wall face before committing. The same nominal product may need different structural treatment in a dormer cheek wall or main load-bearing wall.
Connect geometry and price
An optional preset price is a convenience, but quote and supplier workflows remain the place to review currency, VAT, quantity and date-sensitive cost. Name custom presets with the nominal product size and rough-opening rule so another user can reproduce the placement.
