Recommended test
Place one offset plane on a simple box and confirm its direction before using it as a placement reference.
- Create a rectangular solid and open Plane Tool.
- Click a clearly visible side face and confirm the reported face direction.
- Set a modest width, length and 100 mm normal offset, then choose Place Plane.
- Use the plane as a visible reference, then remove it from the placed-planes list.
Current status
To cut through the display and inspect the inside of a building, use Section view, available beside Axes in the main toolbar. Plane Tool continues to provide construction references and stopper planes.
The interface labels Plane Tool “For testing only.” Treat it as an experimental placement aid, not permanent construction geometry or a guaranteed drawing reference.
Select the source face
Click a model face. Autostrek identifies its dominant normal as Right +X, Left -X, Top +Y, Bottom -Y, Front +Z or Back -Z. Use a simple, clearly oriented face first; small bevels or sloped surfaces can be less intuitive.
Size and offset
Set plane width and length, then apply X, Y and Z offsets. The normal-direction offset is the most predictable way to move the plane away from its source face. Sliders provide a working range while numeric fields allow larger dimensions where supported; double-clicking a dimension range resets it to automatic sizing.
Manage placed planes
Choose Place Plane only after checking the preview. Placed planes appear in a list and can be removed. They can act as stopper or alignment references in compatible placement workflows, but validate the resulting object position with measurement. Remove temporary planes before presentation output so they cannot be mistaken for model parts.
