Compare reported model information with one direct measurement and record the design assumption.
- Open Build info on a generated model and note the wall footprint and ridge height.
- Use Tape Measure to check one footprint dimension in the viewport.
- Add a short model note describing the roof system or an unresolved assumption.
- Save and reopen the .strek file, then confirm the information is still available.
Available building metrics
Build info can report wall footprint length and width, eaves span, overall building footprint, gross floor area, ridge height and eaves height when the model provides the required metadata. These values are useful orientation checks, not a substitute for code, structural or survey verification.
Understand the reference
Wall footprint and eaves span describe different boundaries. Roof overhang can make the eaves footprint larger than the wall footprint. Ridge height and eaves height depend on the generated roof and its reference levels. If a number is unexpected, compare the relevant generator setting and measure the same span in an orthographic view.
Use notes for assumptions
Model notes are a good place for decisions the geometry alone cannot explain: assumed material, unfinished opening size, roof option under review or the source of a dimension. Write notes so another person can understand the uncertainty without the original conversation.
Verify after regeneration
Regenerating the structure can change derived metrics. Reopen Build info after a dimensional change and update notes that are no longer true. Before issuing a plan or quote, compare the model information, measured geometry and quantities as three separate checks.
