Measure with Tape Measure

Open Tape Measure from the main menu to measure between points. Turn on CC to add marks at your chosen centre-to-centre spacing. Choose a spacing preset or enter a value, then draw the measurement. The spacing applies to new measurements; existing measurements keep their spacing. Labels controls the Tape labels, and Snap selects how points are picked.

After picking the first point, move toward the intended direction and type an exact length in the displayed unit. Press Enter to finish the measurement, or Escape to cancel the unfinished span.

Tape opens a small floating panel that leaves the viewport available. Drag its title to move it, or focus the title and use the arrow keys. Open Measurements to see the list and delete individual measurements. Save lets you name a new set or add the current measurements to an existing set without leaving the panel. The list also provides saved-set visibility, rename and delete controls. Clear removes current measurements; delete saved sets separately. Closing the panel exits Tape while keeping completed measurements. Turning Tape off in the main menu or pressing T also closes its panel. Measurement dots stay small when zooming in, including after closing and reopening Tape.

Tape settings are independent of Manual construction. Using CC in Tape does not open the construction rail or Runs & spacing sidebar. Resetting or clearing Tape measurements does not change construction runs.

Each workspace has its own saved measurement sets. Saving, adding to a set, renaming, hiding or deleting a Tape set affects only Tape measurements. These sets last for the current session. Use the usual Planner/project save workflow to retain page measurements with your project.

Switching to Manual construction restores its runs, profiles, spacing and protected/linked settings. Press T to return to Tape. Switching tools cancels the current pointer gesture while preserving completed measurements and runs.

Tape no longer rotates model objects or adds objects along a measurement line. Use the dedicated Rotate tool or Manual construction for those modeling tasks. Existing model objects remain in place.

Choose Guides > Parallel to place a dashed parallel guideline from an edge. Drag from the highlighted edge and release, or click the edge then click to place. With click placement you can orbit, pan and zoom between clicks. Type an exact offset and press Enter; negative values place it on the opposite side. Escape cancels. You can also start from another guide. Alt temporarily bypasses snapping.

Guides snap to model points/edges and guide intersections on the same plane. The Labels checkbox shows their perpendicular offset dimensions. Hide or delete individual guides in the panel, or use Clear, Undo and Redo. While in Guides mode, Ctrl/Cmd+Z undoes a guide change. Switch back to Measure to measure between guide intersections or ordinary model points.

Guides remain visible after closing Tape and are saved with the project. Clearing the current model removes its guides too. They are fixed references: moving an object later does not move its guides. Guide edits do not modify model parts or Manual construction runs.

Angle measurements

In Tape Measure, choose Angle. Click a point on the first leg, click the corner, then click a point on the second leg. The panel indicates the next pick. An arc and degree label show the smaller angle between the two legs in 3D. Corners, edges and guide intersections can be used as snap points.

You can orbit, pan and zoom between clicks. Backspace steps back and Esc cancels. Use Labels to show/hide degree labels; each angle also has a visibility checkbox and delete button. Undo/redo and Clear affect only angles. Completed angles stay visible after closing Tape and save with the project. Manual construction and its runs retain their separate tools and history. Angles are fixed references; they do not follow later object edits.

Angled guidelines

Choose Guides > Angled. Click a reference edge or guide on the face you want to use, choose a pivot along it, then move and click to place the new guideline. Endpoints, midpoints and guide intersections can snap the pivot. A small arc and dashed reference ray show the angle. At an edge endpoint, the reference points along the edge toward its other end.

You can type an exact angle from -180 to 180 degrees and press Enter. A negative angle turns the other way. Shift snaps to 15-degree steps; Alt temporarily turns snapping off. Smart mode also snaps to nearby angle increments and model points. Orbit, pan and zoom between picks. Backspace goes back to the pivot; Esc cancels.

Angled guides use the same Labels, visibility, delete, Clear and undo controls as parallel guides. They save with the project and can be used as references for more guides or measurements. Switch to Parallel for ordinary offset guides. Neither kind changes model parts or Manual construction runs.
