Recommended test
Sweep a small circular profile along a simple curved path.
- Draw a closed circle and a separate open arc or spline path, then finish the sketches.
- Choose Sweep, select the circle as Profile and pick the curve as Path.
- Use Align to path start and inspect the highlighted direction and preview.
- Choose New body and Apply, then check both ends and the inside of the bend.
Select a section and a path
Choose Sweep after preparing a closed profile and a path. Pick the Profile and Path using the dropdowns or viewport Pick buttons.
A path can use sketch curves, including construction curves, or solid edges. Connected path selects a connected chain. Use Add segment to choose a route through a branched sketch, and Clear path to start again.
The panel reports whether the path is open or closed, its segment count and length. Review the highlighted route rather than assuming the nearest branch was chosen.
Place the profile
| Profile placement | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Align to path start | Centres the section at the start and aligns it perpendicular to the path. The original sketch stays in place. |
| Keep sketch placement | Uses the profile’s existing position. It must be correctly placed perpendicular to the path at its start. |
Reverse path changes the starting end and travel direction. It can therefore also change the automatically placed profile position.
Adjust orientation and corners
Open Orientation and corners for:
- Follow path or Keep orientation, controlling how the section is carried.
- Miter or Round, controlling supported path-corner transitions.
- Profile rotation (°), rotating the section about its starting direction.
Use an asymmetric profile if you need to inspect rotation clearly. At tight bends, a large section can intersect itself even when the path looks valid. Reduce the section size or relax the bend.
Apply the solid operation
Choose New body, Join, Subtract or Intersect. Combining operations need a target body and a valid shared result. Review the complete preview, including closed-path joins and sharp corners, then Apply.
Cancel or Escape keeps the original sketches and bodies. Source changes do not automatically rebuild an applied sweep. Save .strek to retain both the exact result and its source drawings.
