Recommended test
Use a beam to enlarge a stud notch, then undo the complete batch.
- Position a supported beam so it overlaps a stud; right-click the beam and choose Cut with object.
- Select the target or use Select overlapping, preview the cuts and inspect the highlighted result.
- Apply cuts, confirm the beam is retained and use workspace Undo to restore the stud.
- Repeat, save and reopen the project, then confirm the cut member remains editable.
Position the cutting object where it overlaps the material to remove, then right-click it and choose Cut with object. A header can enlarge existing stud notches; a shaped Custom Solid can make a more specific cut.
Preview and apply
- Click supported target parts to add or remove them, or choose Select overlapping.
- Choose Preview cuts and inspect the result and affected-object list.
- Choose Apply cuts. One workspace Undo restores the complete batch.
The purple cutter remains in the model. Targets show the proposed result in green. Only actual intersections remove material. Invalid results must be resolved before applying; a cut cannot remove a complete target or leave separate pieces. Cancel leaves the model unchanged.
Supported objects
Cutters include rectangular generated/Manual construction parts, supported edited framing and native Custom Solids, including curved solid cutters. Targets use the generated-object editor: eligible boxes, notched studs, rafters, truss members and marked framing/finish parts. Unsupported geometry shows an explanation; it is not cut using an approximate box.
Each changed target becomes independent and receives Edited. Other linked parts keep their shapes. Existing notches are preserved while additional overlap is removed. Exact results save with the project and remain editable.
This is an explicit cut, not a live connection. Moving or resizing the cutter later does not recut the targets. Run the operation again for additional removal; Reset customization or regenerate when material needs to be restored. For multiple rectangular window/door openings, use Update opening headers.
