Recommended test
Move a duplicate between two obvious corners, then use a numeric glide without changing the original.
- Select a small object, start Move Tool, and hold Ctrl or Cmd while beginning the drag to duplicate it.
- Pick a source corner on the copy and snap it to a visible target corner.
- Start another move, hold Shift to enter glide mode, type a short distance and confirm.
- Keep Move Tool active, press Ctrl or Cmd+Z once and verify the last move is undone.
Direct move and copy
Move Tool supports direct dragging and source-to-target snapping. Hold Ctrl on Windows or Cmd on macOS when beginning a drag to duplicate before moving; this protects the source and is the safest way to learn the tool.
Source and target snaps
Choose the point on the moving object that should act as the source, then choose a target on model geometry. Corners and edges provide clearer validation than featureless faces. Rotate the camera before starting if the intended point is obscured.
Glide with a distance
Hold Shift during the move workflow to start Source glide or Target glide along connected geometry. The glide HUD accepts a numeric distance before confirmation. Arrow keys toggle a working-axis lock: Left uses X, Right uses Z, and Up or Down uses Y. Pressing the same axis again releases that lock. These are model axes, not screen directions; inspect the preview from a second view when the direction is uncertain.
Cancel and undo
Press Escape to cancel the current snap or drag. Keep Move Tool active and use Ctrl/Cmd+Z to undo a recorded move. With Move Tool off, the viewport’s same shortcut addresses tracked deletions instead; see shortcuts and undo.
If Select similar has created a linked selection, inspect all highlighted parts before moving; compatible targets can travel together. Verify the final location with Tape Measure instead of judging only by the camera view. When Move Tool is used on an active Planner page, also check page-specific positions before saving the master model.
