Recommended test
Rotate a small selection by an exact angle and around a picked corner, then check undo and saving.
- On a test model, open Rotate beside Move and select a generated member. Choose World, Y and Centre.
- Enter 22.5 in Angle and press Enter once. Undo, then enter 22,5 and use Apply to compare the result.
- Add a second object with Shift-click, choose Pick point and select a visible corner. Drag a ring while holding Shift.
- Use Undo and Redo, choose Done, then save and reopen a .strek copy to check both placements.
Open Rotate, immediately beside Move in the main 3D toolbar. Select a generated building part, a generated Manual construction object or a Custom Solid body. Three coloured rings appear around the selection.
Select the objects and axes
Click an object to select it. Shift-click or Ctrl/Cmd-click adds or removes objects. The selected objects turn together around one pivot, keeping their positions relative to each other.
Choose World for the model’s fixed axes, or Object for axes that follow the first selected object’s orientation. X is red, Y is green and Z is blue. The axis buttons select the axis used by the Angle field.
Drag a ring or type an angle
Drag the coloured ring for the axis you want. Hold Shift during the drag to snap in 15° steps. Release Shift to rotate freely.
For an exact turn, choose X, Y or Z, enter a signed value in Angle, then
choose Apply or press Enter. Both decimal dots and commas work: 22.5
and 22,5 mean the same angle. Use a negative value to reverse the direction.
Typing alone leaves the object in place until you apply the value.
Angles are relative to the current placement. Applying 30° twice adds two 30° turns; the field does not display or set an absolute orientation. Undo the last turn before entering a replacement angle if that is what you intend.
Choose the pivot
Centre uses the centre of the selection’s bounding box. Use it to turn an object in place or rotate several objects as an assembly.
Choose Pick point to rotate around a specific model location. Point at a visible corner, edge midpoint, edge or face and click. Gentle snapping helps locate a precise feature. For example, pick the bottom corner of a post before tilting it, or a hinge point before turning a panel. Choose Centre to return to the selection centre.
Cancel, undo and finish
Escape cancels an unfinished drag or pivot pick. Otherwise, it closes the tool. Switching tools during a drag also restores the starting placement. Choose Done after completing a rotation.
While Rotate is active, use its Undo and Redo buttons, Ctrl/Cmd+Z for undo or Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z for redo. These controls use the rotation history; they do not undo unrelated building edits. See keyboard shortcuts and undo for the other tool histories.
Generated objects and saved designs
Rotation changes object placement without rebuilding the building or changing the object’s shape. A rotated Custom Solid retains its exact body and remains editable. Re-entering Custom Solid starts a fresh native operation history for that externally moved body, as it does after Move.
Save the project as .strek to retain the result. Regenerating a building replaces manual placement changes with its saved design. Rotating a generated Manual construction object also leaves the source run’s settings unchanged. To rotate an editable run before generating it, use Rotate inside Manual construction.
