Recommended test
Create one small rectangular solid, inspect its metadata and reopen it through Edit solid.
- Start Custom Solid and choose Rectangle with simple width, height and depth values.
- Place the preview away from existing geometry and commit the solid.
- Select it, open the context menu and choose Edit solid.
- Change one dimension, update the solid and verify the result with Tape Measure.
Choose a creation route
Custom Solid supports Rectangle, Circle, Triangle and Path geometry. Use direct primitive dimensions for fast standalone parts. Use Face sketching when geometry belongs on an existing surface, or Grid sketching when a reference image and 2D construction tools are more useful.
Preview before committing
The tool can show a solid or transparent preview. Choose Smart, Grid, Object or Off snapping as appropriate. Keep the first placement clear of other objects so size and orientation are easy to verify.
Keep geometry editable
Custom solids store editing information. The current Edit solid context-menu action is available for Rectangle and Path custom solids; Circle and Triangle creation does not expose the same editor. For an eligible object, select it and reopen its defining controls. Test on a copy and compare the committed result with the original.
For your first check, create a rectangular block, measure it, copy it and change one dimension on the copy through Edit solid. If the expected region or menu action is missing, use custom-solid troubleshooting.
Use the narrowest tool
Prefer a primitive for a simple block, a closed sketch for a profile and Push/Pull when an existing face should grow or recess. Complex construction lines are useful only while they clarify the shape; clean them after the solid is validated. Save before editing geometry that other placement or measurement work depends on.
