Recommended test
Adjust one simple roof visually, then rebuild once to confirm which settings persist.
- Generate a roof with sheathing and simple covering, then open Live Controls.
- Switch covering among Detailed, Simple and Off while watching viewport responsiveness.
- Adjust thickness, offset or seam spacing by a small amount and inspect both slopes.
- Change a bargeboard or downpipe setting, rebuild the test model, and verify the intended setting returns.
Covering mode
Live Controls can show Detailed covering, Simple covering or turn the covering Off. Simple is usually the most responsive inspection mode; Detailed is useful for close presentation views.
For Hip roofs, select Covering detail and the enabled layers in Build, then regenerate. Hip live controls refine already-generated covering; they do not switch between simplified panels and individual tile courses.
Pattern controls
For supported Flat, Wave and Standing seam styles, tune thickness, offset, lightness and relief. Standing seam adds seam-spacing and visibility controls. These change the representation, not manufacturer-certified panel layout.
Edge accessories
Main-roof and dormer outer bargeboards expose height and eave-end length multipliers when their prerequisite fascia/batten stack exists. Downpipe position can be offset manually. Inspect changes at both ends and on both roof sides.
Hip roof live adjustments
Hip roof V1 was released on 13 September 2026. Open Live Control from the bottom-left sliders button, then select Roof Control. Tile style, thickness and vertical offset apply to all four roof faces; caps follow thickness and offset. The supporting roof layers, flashing and gutters keep their positions.
Simplified covering also exposes lightness, relief, seam visibility and Standing seam spacing when that style is selected. Individual flat tiles retain their physical tile courses when the surface pattern changes. Hip roofs omit Outer Bargeboard controls because they have no bargeboards.
Expand Downpipe to adjust the inclined section between the bends on both pipes. The gutter connections and hooks remain fixed. Reset restores the generated 10 mm clearance from the corner-board face. Wall Control also works with Hip Simple Panel siding on all four walls.
Live geometry and settings save with the .strek project and restore when reopened. Hip models generated before live-control support need one regeneration in the updated CAD build; save a copy first if the building has manual edits.
Rebuild awareness
Live settings are designed to carry into the next supported rebuild, but confirm important values after regeneration. Keep the generator’s underlying roof choices coherent with the live appearance. A detailed visual result does not remove the current dormer cutting limits for roof tiles.
