Recommended test
Change one dimension on a copied custom solid and verify the source remains unchanged.
- Copy a rectangular custom solid and move the copy into clear space.
- Open the copy's context menu and choose Edit solid.
- Change one defining dimension or extrusion distance and update it.
- Measure both objects and confirm only the edited copy changed.
Open the editor
Select a supported custom solid and use Edit solid from its viewport context menu. The current menu enables this action for custom solids identified as Rectangle or Path. Circle and Triangle creation is available separately, but those types do not expose this same context-menu editor. Generator-owned members are not eligible just because their shape is rectangular.
The command also relies on the solid’s stored editing information. If the menu action is missing, confirm you selected the actual solid and compare with a fresh rectangular custom solid. See custom-solid troubleshooting.
Change the source definition
Edit the smallest relevant input: primitive dimension, path points, sketch entity or push/pull distance. Watch the preview before applying. A large dimensional change can reverse faces, collapse a path or create overlaps with nearby objects.
Update in place
Commit the update only after the preview is valid. Inspect the complete object, including the opposite face of any recess or cut. Snapped neighboring objects are not parametric constraints and will not necessarily follow the changed solid. Save and reopen the edited test object before relying on it as a reusable source.
Recheck dependants
Measure the updated object, inspect anything previously aligned to it and review affected plan pages or material entries. For a risky revision, edit a copy first. Keep a saved .strek checkpoint whenever a custom solid forms the basis for repeated placement.
