Recommended test
Generate two siding approaches on the same small building and compare clarity, speed and quantities.
- Enable Simple Panel siding, choose Horizontal or Vertical, and generate the model.
- Change board width and use Live Control contrast lines to make the pattern easy to inspect.
- Enable corner posts and verify all exterior corners from Top and Iso views.
- Try legacy Boards only in the disposable model and compare viewport responsiveness.
Pick a siding method
Simple Panel is the recommended siding representation. It produces an efficient cladding surface with a configurable visual pattern. Legacy Boards creates more individual geometry and can be slower on larger models.
Choose the pattern
Simple siding supports Horizontal, Shiplap, Vertical and Smooth patterns. Board width controls the visual module within the supported range of 40 to 300 mm. Pattern lines aid communication but do not automatically prove real lap, fastener or drainage details.
Add corner posts
Corner posts finish the outer wall junctions. Inspect their overlap with siding, openings and any wall-dormer extension. A good isometric view finds visual gaps; a top orthographic view makes offsets easier to compare.
Hip roof walls and corners
Hip roof V1 supports siding on all four walls, including both end walls, with level tops. Both Simple Panel and Boards are supported, including optional wall sheathing and battens.
Enable Corner posts to create eight corner boards: two per wall, forming a pair at each building corner. All eight have equal lengths and square-cut tops. The generated downpipes align with the centres of the relevant corner boards. Simple Panel Wall Control changes patterns, board width, visibility and contrast lines across all four walls.
Hip roof V1 was released on 13 September 2026. Older Hip models need regeneration to receive the current end-wall siding, corner boards and live controls; save a copy before replacing manually edited geometry.
Refine after generation
Live Controls can show or hide simple siding, adjust board width and add contrast lines without rebuilding the whole project. Changes intended for future rebuilds should be confirmed in the generator state. Keep the siding method consistent when comparing quantities, because a simplified panel and individual boards describe the same surface differently.
