Recommended test
Plan a small room and check that its layout, exterior openings and generated partitions agree.
- Open Build, set the building size and place a window in Openings.
- Choose Floor planner, draw connected internal walls and place an internal door.
- Move the window sideways in the plan, then check its new position in Openings.
- Resize the main footprint and inspect room dimensions and any fit warnings.
- Save a project copy, generate the building and inspect the Partition group.
Open the plan in Build
Choose Build > Floor planner. It is the fourth designer mode, alongside Building, Openings and Dormers, and uses the same saved design. In Norwegian, choose Bygg > Plantegning. Open the app normally; no special address or URL parameter is needed.
Start by setting the building size, floor system and roof in Building. Use the plan’s Wall, Door and Furniture tools to arrange the interior. The preview updates while you work; Generate building > Build now creates or replaces the 3D model.
Choose the level
| Level | When it is available |
|---|---|
| Floor 1 | The ground floor of the building. |
| Floor 2 | Enable two storeys in Building. It uses the configured upper-floor elevation. |
| Loft | Use a compatible saved attic/A-frame truss with a loft deck. It is not a third full-height storey. |
Walls, doors, room names and furniture belong to their selected level. Temporarily disabling an upper floor or loft retains its layout for when that level is enabled again.
On a loft, post guides and low-headroom shading help explain the usable space. Partitions must fit between the posts and below the roof or collar clearance. Automatic wall height uses the lowest available clearance along the wall.
Resize the building and move openings
Drag an exterior wall handle, or enter Width and Length under Building footprint. The main footprint stays rectangular: resizing keeps the opposite side fixed in the preview and adjusts the adjoining walls together. The dimensions apply to every floor and also update Building mode.
A selected saved truss may lock the width. Use Building settings to review the truss choice. Edit extensions in Dormers; their footprints appear in the plan for context.
Click an existing exterior opening and drag it sideways along its wall. Outside-view left offset gives an exact position using the same outside-view reference as Openings. Choose Edit openings to change its width, height or style. Exterior door hinge and inward/outward swing controls are also available in the plan.
Resizing uses the openings’ existing resize anchors. An opening that no longer fits stays visible with a conflict; correct it before generation. Attached partition endpoints follow their exterior hosts, while unconnected contents keep their coordinates. Furniture keeps its physical size.
Read rooms and dimensions
Enclosed rooms receive labels with area and clear spans. Select a label to enter Room name. Areas use internal finished wall faces and the inside faces of exterior wall cores. Clear spans are measured through the room label, so they are not necessarily the maximum width and length of an irregular room.
Doorways retain the logical boundary between rooms. Partial-height partitions occupy space but do not create fully enclosed rooms. Overall building dimensions use the nominal structural datum, rather than finished room faces.
Under Plan presentation, set Cut height, Drawing scale and Show dimensions. Heavy lines show cut walls; finer lines show frames, furniture and door swings. Dashed openings lie above or below the cut. The 1:50 and 1:100 choices adjust drawing presentation; this release does not add a dedicated floor-plan PDF exporter.
Scroll to zoom, use Shift + middle-button drag to pan, and choose Fit plan to recenter. Hold Shift for finer positioning and Escape to cancel a drag. Plan Undo/Redo covers plan edits; editing another designer mode starts a new plan-edit history.
Generate and save
Follow internal walls and doors for framing settings. Generated partitions, finishes and internal doors appear in the Partition group. Furniture and interior currently stay in the 2D plan; generated 3D support is in development.
Save Drafts & variants for design alternatives, then save a .strek file to retain the project after closing. Save project copy is available in the designer even before first generation. Account building presets do not replace these saved layouts.
The current release supports orthogonal partitions and a rectangular main footprint. Stairs, arbitrary exterior wall polygons and automatic structural sizing are outside its scope. Direct edits to generated 3D parts do not update the designer recipe; save a copy before regeneration replaces those edits.
For drawing sheets from the generated model, use Project Planner. That is separate from arranging rooms in Build’s Floor planner.
