Recommended test
Build an L-shaped room and compare both finish corners and a flush internal door in the plan and generated model.
- Choose Wall, draw two connected perpendicular walls, and press Enter to finish the chain.
- Select one wall, choose Separate wall type and change its stud depth or finish thickness.
- Place a door, select its hinge and swing, and set Door face position to Flush with side A.
- Generate and inspect inside/outside finish corners, white doors and two hinges per hinged leaf.
- Measure the last solid stud bays and confirm none exceed the building CC.
Draw and connect walls
In Build > Floor planner, choose the level and select Wall. Click a start point and an endpoint. Continue clicking to draw connected horizontal or vertical segments. Point in the required direction and enter Wall length in the inspector when you need an exact span.
Green markers identify Join endpoint, Join wall or Exterior wall snaps. Aim for the marker to make a real connection. An endpoint can join the middle of another wall to form a T junction. Nearby perpendicular free ends can snap to their shared corner. A blocked connection turns red; move clear of a doorway, framing or a conflicting attachment.
Press Enter, Escape or Finish / Cancel to finish the chain. This retains placed walls and clears the unplaced preview. Enter in a numeric field confirms that value instead.
Use Select to move a wall perpendicular to its length. End handles extend, shorten or connect it. Connected walls follow the move and stay orthogonal. A small pointer movement does not immediately start a drag; Escape cancels an active drag. Exact Centreline position and Wall length fields are also available.
Split a wall or separate its type
| Control | What changes |
|---|---|
| Split wall | Click an internal wall to divide it into two connected segments at that point. It creates an editing junction, not a gap. Existing doors keep their position; a split through a door or its framing is rejected. |
| Separate wall type | Gives the selected wall its own copy of the stud and finish settings. Its position and connections stay the same. The green confirmation reads “Wall type is separate.” |
Walls sharing a Wall type share its Stud width, Stud depth, Finish, side A and Finish, side B. Changing those values affects every wall using that type, including walls on another level. Use Separate wall type first when the change should apply only to the selected wall. Partition defaults controls the type used for new walls.
Set framing and height
Partitions inherit the building’s CC measurement. CC controls stud spacing, not the grid of permitted wall positions. Solid stud runs retain regular spacing where possible and add end studs so the last bay is never larger than CC. At CC 600 mm, a remaining 771 mm span needs an intermediate stud; it cannot remain a single bay. Door openings are deliberate clear gaps with framing around them.
Use available floor height reaches the level’s available top. Turn it off to enter a lower Wall height. For Foundation wall buildings, ground-floor partitions start at the interior floor below the exterior bottom plates; their automatic tops still meet the existing wall-top elevation. For example, a 350 mm foundation plus 2400 mm exterior walls gives a 2750 mm automatic partition height. Upper floors and lofts use their own floor references.
The generator adds partition framing and finish panels. Inside finish layers meet at the inside corner; outside layers meet at the outside corner, including different layer thicknesses. Regenerate an older building to apply these corrections to its existing geometry.
These are non-load-bearing partitions. Header dimensions follow the selected stud dimensions; the tool does not size structural members automatically.
Place an internal door
Choose Door and click an internal wall. Select the door to adjust:
| Setting | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Door type | Single, Double or Sliding. |
| From wall start | Door position along its host wall. |
| Rough width / Rough height | Framing-opening dimensions; fitting gaps and frame sections reduce the usable passage. |
| Hinge side | The wall’s Start end or Finish end, rather than a global left/right direction. |
| Opens toward | Swing toward Side A or Side B. |
| Door face position | Recessed, Flush with side A, or Flush with side B. The A/B markers show which finished wall face is meant. |
Face position and swing direction are independent. With Match finished wall thickness enabled, the frame depth follows the stud core plus both finishes. Disable it to set Frame depth. Frame section controls the jamb width in the opening, not the depth through the wall.
Read Frame outside width and Approximate clear passage beneath the controls. Inspect the leaf and swing arc in the plan, then check the generated result. Internal door leaves and frames are white; each hinged leaf has two hinges. Sliding doors use their own symbol without a hinged swing arc.
Moving a host wall carries its doors with it. Delete wall and its doors removes both; use Undo to restore them. Resolve door-fit and framing conflicts before generating.
