Troubleshoot measurements and repeated spacing

Resolve wrong endpoints, unexpected units, missing labels and uneven final bays before changing the model.

Check the two points first

When a value is unexpected, inspect both snap dots before moving geometry. In perspective, corners at different depths can appear close together. Switch to Front, Side or Top orthographic as appropriate, zoom in and repeat the measurement on a known edge.

Choose the snap mode for the reference you actually want. Hiding obstructing objects can help expose an endpoint, but verify visibility again before final output.

Find missing measurements

Check whether the label, individual measurement or named set has been hidden. Saving a set moves its measurements out of the temporary collection, so the set’s active visibility now matters. Clearing temporary measurements and deleting a saved set are different actions.

Named sets currently belong to the open session. They are not restored from browser storage or from the named-set library in a .strek file. A Planner page can carry its own captured temporary measurements. If the issue appears only after reopening or only on one page, see measurement sets and persistence.

Understand the last bay

Even spacing Count means intermediate members, with two endpoint members in addition. Count 3 normally gives five members before frame caps or mirrored copies. Even spacing takes priority over CC override while enabled.

A fixed CC module may leave a remainder at the end of a run. Force last object includes the adjusted end target while retaining regular ticks. With Force last off, an enabled last inset or offset can move the final regular tick to the adjusted end instead. Coincident targets are merged.

The half-width checkbox changes the endpoint insets. Additional First/Last offsets move endpoint targets without redistributing all the intermediate targets, including in Even spacing mode. The resulting end bays can differ from the middle. See exact spacing examples for the arithmetic.

Measure centers when checking center-to-center spacing. Edge gaps vary with member width even if the center module is correct. Check the first bay, one middle bay, the last bay and the total bounds before committing a large repeated layout.

Diagnose CC placement behavior

Symptom Check or action
Changing the CC preset leaves an existing run unchanged The run keeps its recorded spacing. Use CC override; turn Even spacing off if a fixed module is intended.
One run ignores changes to Shape or Extrude Check its Locked status. Unlock returns it to the live shared settings.
Spacing marks appear but no members generate Select an actual Shape rather than None and set dimensions and a nonzero extrusion, or select a saved truss.
A visible run is not included in Generate A run saved into a named measurement set is outside the current generation batch.
More objects appear than expected Generate includes all current runs. Check caps and mirrors, and whether the same batch was already generated.
New measurement points cannot be picked Choose Done to exit CC move, or finish/cancel the active face-pick operation.
A saved truss generates somewhere other than its moved preview The saved-truss path does not apply CC move offsets or individual locked settings; use a separate live batch and final run references.
Members stop short even after a helper is hidden A hidden stopper plane can still clip extrusion. Remove the plane or use Quick plane setter Clear.

Recheck after changing geometry

Measurements describe chosen points; they do not constrain objects to stay at those points. After a move, edit or regeneration, measure a known span again and revisit any Planner pages that show it. Keep a checked PDF or a verified page capture when a dimension must be communicated beyond the current session.
